POSITION OVERVIEW  

Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacist Officer will implement pharmaceutical-related activities, including the distribution, storage, prescription, dispensing, consumption, inventory, and quality management of supplies. In addition, they will provide day-to-day leadership and technical supervision for field-based health team(s) as well as mobilize as needed with the Mobile Clinics. The Pharmacist Officer will work closely with the logistics team to ensure proper procedures are in place.   The Pharmacist Officer will need to travel periodically from Dnipro to field offices and warehouses in Mykolaiv, Kryvyi Rih, Lozova, and Kharkiv, as well as to field sites where mobile teams are operating.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES

• Facilitate the procurement of pharmaceuticals and medical commodities in compliance with USAID/BHA and Ministry of Health standards at a cost-effective price, including importation and local procurement.
• Support the Pharmacy Manager in maintaining a strong tracking system for stock, distribution, and consumption of pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and medical equipment.
• Support the development and implementation of internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for tracking, storage, distribution, and dispensing of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
• Organize and conduct trainings for FHI 360 staff and MoH staff on good storage and distribution practices (GSDP).
• Establish and maintain systems for storage and tracking of pharmaceuticals for mobile medical teams within regional FHI 360 storerooms.
• Work with logistics department and health officers to ensure that all appropriate documentation is completed and monitoring activities conducted for donations of medical commodities to health facilities.
• Put in place Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ensure FHI 360 programming is compliant with donor and MOH guidelines, as well as national laws.
• Conduct field visits to supervise and monitor each mobile team and regional pharmacy storeroom.
• Carry out inspections / audits of pharmaceutical storage, provided to FHI360 by  commercial and non-commercial partners. Conduct verification for all new procurements of medical commodities and pharmaceuticals upon receipt at the warehouse.
• Work with the staff in mobile teams to ensure all relevant tracking systems are in place, and ensure that the staff are trained on the FHI 360 tracking system as well as donor reporting requirements.
• Ensure pharmaceutical-related tracking data (stock, consumption etc) is collected and reported on a monthly basis.
• Prepare weekly activity plans for review by Pharmacy Manager and Health Coordinator.
• Any other tasks as requested by the Pharmacy Manager and Health Coordinator.  

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of experience working as a pharmacist or a pharmaceutical supply chain specialist. 
• University degree in pharmacy-related field.  
• Current, active professional registration as a licensed pharmacist in Ukraine with no restrictions.   
• Fluent in Ukrainian and excellent in English.
• Experience working in pharmaceutical distribution and warehousing.
• Outstanding knowledge of MS Office and pharmaceutical database.
• Previous experience working with NGOs is an advantage.
